Objectives

The: Bihar School Examination Board works under a scrutinized mission and its main objectives have been listed as follows

  1. Established for holding and conducting examinations at the end of the Secondary School stage
  2. For prescribing course of studies for such examination and
  3. For carrying out such other objects and duties as may be considered
    necessary for the purpose as stated in the Act, Rules and Regulations of the Board.

 

Working as a model Examination Board, Bihar School Examination Board carries out the above set aims smoothly and righteously and thus, providing the students with the best they should have.

 

Examinations

As per its year round schedule, the Bihar School Examination Board conducts an Annual Secondary School Examination in the month of February/March and Supplementary School Examinations in the month of August/September on the basis of course/syllabus as prescribed by the State Government.
Apart from the aforementioned Secondary School Examination, the Board also successfully conducts Departmental examinations, which though are not on an annual basis, are extremely important for students for the over-all development such as Diploma in Physical Education, Certificate in Physical Education and Teachers Training Examination according to the terms and conditions laid down by the State Government. 

Bihar School Examination Board conducts Secondary School Examination twice every year i.e. Annual/Supplementary examinations.

Annual Examination

The Annual examination is normally conducted in the month of February/March. With an average pass percentage of 67.22%, it is one of the leading educational boards of the country building the future shoulders of tomorrow.

Supplementary Examination

Supplementary Examination is generally conducted in the month of July/August. Two categories of students appear in the Supplementary examinations i.e. ‘A’ & ‘C’.

‘A’ means- all subjects,

‘C’ means compartmental i.e. students who want to clear their subjects in which they failed at the annual examination, appear as compartmental examinees

 

The average pass percentage for this set of examination is 65.37%.

 

Scholarships & Rewards

The Bihar School Examination Board believes in the power of knowledge and if some deserving candidate is at the verge of losing it due to lack of funds, then the Board comes to its rescue and provides Scholarships to those in need and who deserve the said scholarship reward.

 

Teachers Welfare Fund

A welfare fund has been set up the Bihar School Examination Board to help the dedicated staff enrolled under the educational institutes working with the Board.

About 550 needy teachers have been helped since 1996 to Feb 2007 through this head. This fund is given to those teachers who are suffering from illness and produce medical certificate to that effect. Application should be forwarded through concerned D.E.O or Bihar State Teachers Association.
